Decline Cold Outreach
Handle unsolicited recruiter and sales emails for you. Decline Cold Outreach spots cold outreach in your inbox and, depending on how you set it up, labels it, prepares a polite decline draft for your review, or both. It’s a common source of unwanted auto-drafts, so it’s worth knowing the controls.
How it works
- It looks at incoming (or, in daily mode, recently unread) email.
- It classifies each one as recruiter outreach, sales/marketing outreach, or neither.
- For messages that match, it takes the action you chose — a decline draft held for your review, a label, or both.
Emails from people you know aren’t treated as cold outreach. Nothing is ever sent automatically — a decline draft waits in your drafts until you review and send it.
Configuration
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Outreach types to decline | Choose which kinds to act on — recruiter emails, sales and marketing emails, or both. Uncheck one to scope the routine to just the other (for example, recruiter-only). |
| Response mode | Create draft reply prepares a polite decline for you to review before sending. Label only just labels the email and drafts nothing — no reply. |
| Apply label | Optionally tag detected cold outreach with a label, and choose the label name. |
| Run frequency | Real-time processes each email as it arrives. Daily batch does a single morning run over recent unread mail (with a lookback window you set). |
Cutting down credit use
Every decline draft your assistant writes uses credits, so if you’re getting more auto-drafts than you want — or want to trim credit usage — you have a few levers:
- Switch Response mode to “Label only.” You still get cold outreach out of the way, without spending credits writing a reply you may not send.
- Narrow the outreach types. If only recruiter spam bothers you, turn off sales/marketing so it drafts less.
- Use daily batch instead of real-time to process in one pass rather than on every incoming email.
- Turn the routine off entirely if you don’t need it — there’s no penalty, and you can turn it back on anytime.
See Credits & Usage → Getting the most out of your credits for more ways to keep credit use in check.
