Getting StartedWhat is Town?

What is Town?

Town is an AI assistant that learns how you work, then does real work the way you would.

Think of the everyday things that eat your time — and hand them off:

  • “Catch me up on my inbox and flag what needs a reply.”
  • “Find a time that works for both of us and send the invite.”
  • “Pull the key points out of this doc before my meeting.”
  • “Draft a reply to this — in my voice.”

It shows up in all the places you already work, and takes real action: it can draft and send emails, schedule and manage your calendar, find and read documents, search the web, and more. You just talk to it in plain conversation — no prompts to perfect, no learning curve.

And because it picks up your voice, your contacts, and your priorities, what it produces sounds like you — not a generic bot. The more you work together, the sharper it gets and the more it can take off your plate.

Your data stays yours. Town only works with what you choose to connect, and it works for you alone — it never sells your data and AI training is off by default. You’re always in control of what it can see and do. Learn more at Town Trust & Safety.

What it connects to

Town operates behind the scenes — connected to your email, calendar, and the tools you already use. It runs routines automatically, responds when you reach out, and turns important follow-up into tasks you can review and complete.

When you sign up, you name your assistant and get a dedicated email address — like alex@town.com. That’s one of the ways you reach it from anywhere: email it, and it takes care of the rest.

Your assistant has access to:

  • Email — Read, search, label, archive, and send
  • Calendar — View events, check availability, create meetings
  • Drive — Access documents and files
  • Connected apps — Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Linear, CRM, project management, finance, meeting, data, and custom integrations

What are the first 4 things I need to do?

Getting started takes a few minutes. Do these things first:

  1. Connect your email & calendar. You’ll do this right in the onboarding flow — link your Google or Outlook account and Gmail, Calendar, and Drive all connect in one step. This gives your Townie the context to actually help.
  2. Set up your profile & meet your Townie. Name your Townie (the name becomes its @town.com email address), then review the profile it builds about you — your role, top contacts, and how you communicate. Correct anything that’s off and add what’s missing.
  3. Try your first prompt. Just talk to your Townie in plain language and see how it works. The easiest place to start is the chat bar on your home screen — but it’s not the only way. You can also email it, message it on Slack, and more (more on how to reach your Townie).
  4. Get to know how we keep you safe. Before you hand off anything important, it’s worth a two-minute read of how Town protects you and your data. The short version:
    • Your Townie never acts without your permission. It asks before it sends or changes anything, unless you choose to give it more freedom.
    • AI training is off by default, and we configure our AI model providers  so your inputs and outputs aren’t used to train their models either.
    • You’re always in control. You decide what your Townie can see and do, and you can delete your data anytime.
    • Read the full details in Town Trust & Safety.

Not sure what to ask? Try one of these:

  • “Summarize my unread emails and tell me what needs a reply.”
  • “What’s on my calendar today, and is there anything I should prep for?”
  • “Draft a reply to this email.” (then forward it, or open the thread)
  • “Find the document [name] and give me the key points.”
  • “Help me write a follow-up to [name] about [topic].”
