X
Connect X (formerly Twitter) and your assistant can keep up with your account for you — read your mentions, home timeline, bookmarks, and likes, look up posts and profiles, and search recent public posts — then turn any of it into a draft reply, a post, or a summary without you living in the app.
The connection is read-only. Your assistant can read from X, but it never posts, replies, likes, follows, or sees your DMs. Anything it writes from your feed is a Town-side draft that waits for your review — your account only ever says what you choose to publish.
What’s included
With X connected, your assistant can:
- Read your mentions — see who’s talking to you and triage what needs a reply
- Read your home timeline — get the gist of your feed without scrolling it
- Read your bookmarks and likes — resurface what you saved to read later
- Look up posts and profiles — pull a post’s content and public metrics, or a user’s bio and recent posts
- Search recent public posts — find posts about your product, name, or a topic from roughly the last 7 days
- Draft replies and posts in your voice — hand you ready-to-publish drafts you review and post yourself
Connecting X
- Go to Integrations
- Find X and click Connect
- Authorize Town through X’s official sign-in (one click — nothing to install)
- Return to Town
The connection is read-only and uses X’s official sign-in — no API keys or developer setup. Town reads from X only when you (or a routine you set up) ask it to, and it can never post, like, follow, or see your DMs.

Every X tool is a read. Drafting a reply or a post happens in Town, and publishing to X is always your click.
Use cases
Stay on top of mentions
Turn the firehose into a short list:
- Read new mentions and skip the noise
- Draft a reply in your voice for each one worth answering
- Review the drafts and publish the ones you like
A rundown of your feed
Fold X into your daily brief:
- Summarize your home timeline and mentions each morning
- Get it alongside your email and calendar, not in a separate app
- Catch the posts about you that never tagged you, via recent search
Read what you saved
Make your bookmarks useful:
- “Summarize what I bookmarked this week”
- Get a digest of the threads worth your time
- Turn a saved thread into notes or a follow-up task
Prep and research
Bring X into your other work:
- “Who is @danaburke?” — bio, followers, and recent posts, folded into a meeting brief
- “How did the launch post do?” — likes, replies, reposts, and impressions, compared with your recent posts
Example routine
A routine that drafts replies to the mentions worth answering:
Every morning:
1. Read my new X mentions
2. Skip spam and low-value replies
3. For each mention worth answering, draft a reply in my voice
4. Leave the drafts for my review — don't post anythingBest practices
Town never posts for you. Replies and posts are drafted in Town for you to review and publish yourself. Give each one a final read before it goes out.
Point search at keywords, not just @-mentions. Recent search catches posts about your product or name that never tagged you — a wider net than mentions alone.
Recent search looks back about 7 days. For anything older, give your assistant the post’s URL or the author’s handle so it can look the post up directly.
Troubleshooting
Don’t see X on your Integrations page?
The X connection may not be available for your account yet. Check back later, or reach out if you need it enabled.
Can’t connect
- Make sure you’re signing in to the correct X account
- Complete X’s sign-in screen fully and return to Town
Can’t find a post
- Recent search only covers roughly the last 7 days of public posts
- For older posts, paste the post’s URL or give the author’s handle
- Protected accounts and DMs are never accessible
Town won’t post for me
That’s by design — the connection is read-only. Your assistant drafts replies and posts; publishing to X is always something you do yourself.
