How to connect the Todoist MCP to Town

  1. Open Integrations in Town

Go to Integrations in your Town workspace (free to create) and find Todoist.

  2. Authorize the connection

Sign in to Todoist when prompted. Town connects through Todoist's official MCP server (ai.todoist.net), so there's nothing to install or configure.

  3. Put your list to work

Done — your Townie can add what you promise, answer what's due, and keep your projects tidy, on request or in routines.

Just ask your Townie

Todoist keeps the list. Town keeps it fed and triaged, from your meetings, email, and chat.

  • “What's due this week?”

Today, overdue, and upcoming, answered from your projects wherever you're working.

  • “Add ‘send Dana the contract,’ due Thursday.”

On the list, in the right project, before you've switched tabs.

  • “Clear my overdue tasks.”

Your Townie reschedules or closes each one in batches, held for your approval.

Todoist integration FAQ

The Todoist MCP is Todoist's hosted Model Context Protocol server at ai.todoist.net — the official integration surface Todoist maintains. MCP is the open standard that lets AI assistants securely work with data from apps — in this case your tasks, projects, sections, labels, and comments. Town connects to it in one click; no API keys or local setup.

Town only touches Todoist when you (or a routine you configured) ask for it, and access is scoped to the account you connect. New tasks and changes wait for your approval. Read more about how Town approaches security.

By default, no — new tasks, edits, and completions are drafted and held for your approval, so nothing lands on the list you run your day from without you seeing it. If you want a routine to run more autonomously, you opt in per routine.

Your tasks, projects, sections, labels, and comments — exactly what it needs for the request at hand. Under the hood these are Todoist's MCP tools: create, update, complete, and reopen tasks (in batches of up to 25), find and filter tasks by project, section, label, priority, or date, manage projects, sections, and comments, search across the workspace with project overviews, and read the activity log.

You need a Todoist account and a Town account — free to start. The Todoist connection works on every Town plan.

Todoist is where your tasks live — the projects, due dates, and the one trusted list. Town is an AI assistant that works across your email, calendar, and meetings. Connected, they compound: Town catches what you promise and puts it on the list; Todoist keeps the list; done means done.

What is Todoist?

Todoist is a personal task manager used by millions to keep work and life on one trusted list — projects, sections, labels, and natural-language due dates, synced across every device.

Todoist holds the list; Town keeps it honest. Connected, everything you promise in a meeting or an email lands as a task with a date, and what's due finds you before it's late.
