Google Drive integration FAQ
Town's Google Drive integration connects your files through Google's official sign-in — one click, no setup. Your Townie can search your Drive, read your Docs, Sheets, and Slides, create docs and folders, keep files organized, and attach the right file to replies it drafts for you. Anything that creates, edits, or moves a file waits for your approval.
Town only reads your files when you (or a routine you configured) ask for it, and access is scoped to the account you connect. Anything that creates, edits, or moves a file is held for your approval. Read more about how Town approaches security.
Town can create docs, apply edits, and move files into folders, and each of those waits for your approval first. It has no tool to delete files, and it doesn't change who your files are shared with — sharing stays in Drive.
The Drive of the Google account you connect. Under the hood these are Town's Drive tools: search files, read Docs, Slides, and file details, read Sheets data, read comment threads, create docs and folders, edit docs and sheets, manage tabs, and move files.
You need a Google account with Drive, and a Town account — free to start. The Google Drive connection works on every Town plan.
Drive search matches filenames and keywords. Town reads the files: it can tell the final from the drafts, quote the number inside the sheet, and attach the right file to a reply it drafted in your voice — on a schedule you set, not just when you go looking.
What is Google Drive?
Google Drive is where working files live — the Docs, Sheets, Slides, and PDFs behind every project, and for most teams the shared filing cabinet the whole company runs on.
Drive holds the files; Town puts them to work. Connected, the right doc shows up attached to your drafted replies, your Sheets answer questions in plain English, and the loose files get filed where they belong.
