How to connect the Clay MCP to Town

  1. Open Integrations in Town

Go to Integrations in your Town workspace (free to create) and find Clay.

  2. Authorize the connection

Sign in to Clay when prompted. Town connects through Clay's official MCP server (api.clay.com/v3/mcp), so there's nothing to install or configure.

  3. Put Clay's data to work

Done — your Townie can find and enrich prospects, answer questions about your accounts, and bring the results into your briefs, drafts, and CRM updates.

Just ask your Townie

Clay finds and enriches the data. Town puts it to work in your briefs, outreach, and CRM.

  • “Who runs data engineering at Vantage Systems?”

Found through Clay, email enriched, intro drafted for your approval.

  • “Pull together a brief on Northwind Robotics.”

Funding, headcount, tech stack from Clay, drafted into a doc in Town's editor.

  • “Score the leads from yesterday's webinar.”

Your workspace workflow, run with your approval, results summarized back in chat.

Clay integration FAQ

The Clay MCP is Clay's hosted Model Context Protocol server at api.clay.com/v3/mcp — the official integration surface Clay maintains. MCP is the open standard that lets AI assistants securely work with data from apps — in this case Clay's people and company data, your audience accounts, and the workflows your workspace has built. Town connects to it in one click; no API keys or local setup.

Town only reaches Clay when you (or a routine you configured) ask for it, and access is scoped to the Clay workspace you connect. Workflow runs — the only actions with outside effects — always wait for your approval. Read more about how Town approaches security.

No. Most of Clay's tools are read-only — searching, enriching, and querying. The only actions that can have outside effects are your workspace's own Clay workflows, and Town holds every workflow run for your approval, every time.

Clay's people and company data, plus your own workspace's audiences and workflows. Under the hood these are Clay's MCP tools: find contacts at a company, find specific people, find and enrich companies, add contact and company data points, query audience accounts, contacts, and deals, ask questions about accounts, list and run workspace workflows, and check enrichment credits. Workflows only appear if a Clay admin has enabled them for MCP — ask your admin.

Searches, enrichments, and workflow runs draw on your Clay workspace's credits, the same as running them in Clay — and your Townie only adds enrichments you ask for. On the Town side you just need an account: free to start, and the connection works on every Town plan.

Clay's workbooks are where the data gets found and enriched. Town connects that data to the rest of your work: prospects arrive with intro drafts, company research lands in your briefs and docs, and CRM updates are drafted for your approval.

What is Clay?

Clay is the GTM data platform where go-to-market teams find prospects and enrich them — people, companies, emails, funding, headcount — drawing on dozens of data providers from one workbook.

Clay finds and enriches the data; Town puts it to work. Connected, fresh prospects arrive with intro drafts, company research lands in your briefs and docs, and your CRM updates are drafted for approval.
