Routines that use Hex
Ready-made routines from the Town library, built on Hex. Install one and tailor it to how you work.
Just ask your Townie
Hex holds the answers. Town puts them to work in your briefs, inbox, and docs.
“How many workspaces activated last week?”
A Hex analysis, started and summarized for you.
“Send the team last week's retention numbers.”

Hex integration FAQ
The Hex MCP is Hex's hosted Model Context Protocol server at app.hex.tech/mcp — the official integration surface Hex maintains. MCP is the open standard that lets AI assistants securely work with data from apps — in this case your Hex projects and analysis Threads. Town connects to it in one click; no API keys or local setup.
Town only reaches Hex when you (or a routine you configured) ask for it, access is scoped to your Hex account, and analyses run only against the data connections your Hex role already allows. Read more about how Town approaches security.
Town starts and continues analysis Threads — the same ask-a-question flow you'd use in Hex, with approval rules on those actions. It doesn't edit your existing projects, notebooks, or dashboards.
Your Hex projects and analysis Threads. Under the hood these are Hex's MCP tools: search projects, start a new analysis Thread, continue a Thread with follow-ups, and read Thread messages and results.
On the Hex side, yes — the Hex MCP requires a Team or Enterprise workspace and an Explorer role or higher. On the Town side you just need an account — free to start, and the connection works on every Town plan.
Hex's AI works inside your notebooks. Town brings Hex to the rest of your work — usage data lands in meeting briefs, metric shifts reach you where you are, and anyone can ask a data question in plain English without opening a notebook.
What is Hex?
Hex is the collaborative data platform where data teams build analyses, notebooks, and data apps on the company warehouse — the place your real product and business numbers live.
Hex holds the answers; Town brings them to where you work. Connected, usage data shows up in your briefs, metric shifts find you, and a question in chat becomes a real analysis.
