Google Analytics integration FAQ
Town's Google Analytics integration is a secure, read-only connection to your GA4 properties through Town's Google Analytics tools. Your Townie can list the properties your account has access to and run GA4 reports over your traffic — sessions, users, page views, conversions, engagement — by any date range, dimension, or channel, then turn the numbers into readouts, answers, and updates. You authorize it from Town's Integrations page by signing in with your Google account; nothing to install.
Town only reads Google Analytics data when you (or a routine you configured) ask for it, and access is scoped to the GA4 properties your Google account can already see. Anything Town drafts from it — an email, an update, a doc — waits for your approval before it goes anywhere. Read more about how Town approaches security.
No. The connection is read-only by design — Town's Google Analytics tools run reports and list properties, and none of them can edit your properties, events, or settings. Your measurement stays exactly as your team configured it.
Your GA4 reporting data, read on demand: any report the GA4 Data API can answer — sessions, users, page views, conversions, engagement, broken down by date, page, channel, or any other GA4 dimension — plus the list of accounts and properties you can access. Under the hood these are Town's Google Analytics tools: run a GA4 report, list properties, and list accounts. Realtime reports, audience management, and Universal Analytics aren't covered.
No. Google Analytics 4 is free, and the connection works on every Town plan — you just need a Google account with at least Viewer access to the GA4 property. A Town account is free to start.
GA4's reports live inside Google Analytics. Town brings the numbers to the rest of your work — the weekly readout lands in your inbox, a traffic question gets answered in chat, and the marketing update drafts itself with real figures, without anyone opening a dashboard.
What is Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is the web analytics platform most of the internet measures itself with — GA4 tracks sessions, users, conversions, and engagement across your website and apps, tied to the channels and campaigns that brought people in.
Google Analytics measures the traffic; Town puts it to work. Connected, the weekly readout drafts itself, a dip gets flagged with the page that caused it, and a plain question becomes a real GA4 report.
