ClickUp integration FAQ
The ClickUp MCP is ClickUp's hosted Model Context Protocol server at mcp.clickup.com — the official integration surface ClickUp maintains. MCP is the open standard that lets AI assistants securely work with data from apps — in this case your tasks, lists, folders, docs, comments, time entries, and chat channels. Town connects to it in one click; no API keys or local setup.
Town only reads ClickUp data when you (or a routine you configured) ask for it, and access is scoped to the workspace you connect. Changes wait for your approval. Read more about how Town approaches security.
By default, no — new tasks, edits, comments, time entries, and chat messages are drafted and held for your approval before they land, so the workspace your whole team runs on never changes without you seeing it. If you want a routine to run more autonomously, you opt in per routine.
The tasks, lists, folders, and docs across every Space your ClickUp account can see. Under the hood these are ClickUp's MCP tools: search across the workspace, create, update, and bulk-manage tasks, get and post task comments, track time and manage time entries, navigate Spaces, folders, and lists, find workspace members and resolve assignees, send chat messages to channels, and create and edit docs and doc pages.
You need a ClickUp account and a Town account — free to start. The ClickUp connection works on every Town plan.
ClickUp's AI works inside ClickUp. Town works across your whole stack — your meetings, inbox, and calendar plus your workspace — so work gets filed from what happens outside ClickUp, and answers reach you wherever you ask.
What is ClickUp?
ClickUp is the everything app for work — tasks, docs, goals, chat, and time tracking in one workspace, where ops-heavy teams run their projects, processes, and the week's priorities.
ClickUp gives the operation one home; Town keeps it fed. Connected, your meetings and email become tracked tasks, and status questions answer themselves without a check-in meeting.
