How to connect the Canva MCP to Town

  1. Open Integrations in Town

Go to Integrations in your Town workspace (free to create) and find Canva.

  2. Authorize the connection

Sign in to Canva when prompted. Town connects through Canva's official MCP server (mcp.canva.com), so there's nothing to install or configure — the popup shows exactly which Canva account you're connecting.

  3. Put your designs to work

Done — your Townie can find and read designs, summarize feedback, and draft, edit, and export designs that wait for your approval.

Just ask your Townie

Canva holds the designs. Town turns your calendar, inbox, and photos into artwork that waits for your sign-off.

  • “Turn Thursday's webinar invite into a promo graphic.”

A design drafted from the event details, waiting in Canva for your approval.

  • “Add this photo to the June newsletter design.”

Your photo lands in your Canva media library, and the design edit waits for your approval.

  • “What did the team say on the launch deck design?”

Every comment thread summarized in one chat reply, with responses drafted for your approval.

Canva integration FAQ

The Canva MCP is Canva's hosted Model Context Protocol server at mcp.canva.com — the official integration surface Canva maintains. MCP is the open standard that lets AI assistants securely work with data from apps — in this case your designs, folders, comments, and brand templates. Town connects to it with your Canva sign-in; no API keys or local setup.

Town only reaches Canva when you (or a routine you configured) ask for it, and the connection sees exactly what the connected Canva account can see — private designs stay private. Every action with outside effects, from generating and editing to exporting, uploading, and commenting, waits for your approval. Read more about how Town approaches security.

No. Generating a design, editing one, copying or importing, resizing, exporting, uploading an asset, organizing folders, and posting a comment or reply each wait for your explicit approval, every single time — even inside routines that otherwise run on their own. Nothing in your Canva changes automatically.

Whatever the connected Canva account can access, and nothing more: designs and their pages, text content, presenter notes, and thumbnails; folders and the media library; comment threads and replies; and on Canva Enterprise, brand templates and brand kits. With your approval it can also generate designs with Canva AI, create and edit designs, resize and export them, upload assets, organize folders, and comment.

A free Canva account works: finding and reading designs, generating and editing them, exports, uploads, and comments are all available. Two things follow Canva's plans — resizing a design needs Canva Pro or higher, and brand templates and brand kits need Canva Enterprise. On the Town side you just need an account: free to start.

Canva is where your designs get made. Town is where they stop waiting on you to start: event graphics arrive prepped from your calendar, design feedback lands summarized in chat, and a photo you text your Townie ends up in the right design — with every change held for your approval.

What is Canva?

Canva is the visual design platform teams use to make everything from social posts and event promos to presentations and one-pagers — with templates, a shared media library, brand kits, and collaborative commenting built in.

Canva holds the designs; Town puts them to work. Connected, promo graphics get prepped from what's on your calendar, feedback threads arrive summarized in chat, and your photos land in the right design — every change waiting for your approval.
