How to connect YouTube to Town

  1. Open Integrations in Town

Go to Integrations in your Town workspace (free to create) and find YouTube.

  2. Sign in with Google

Authorize with the Google account behind your channel. Town's YouTube and YouTube Analytics connections use Google's official sign-in, so there's nothing to install or configure.

  3. Ask about any video

Done — your Townie can pull your channel's numbers, watch the comments, and draft what's next, on a schedule or whenever you ask.

Just ask your Townie

YouTube knows how your channel is doing. Town puts those numbers to work in your reports, replies, and plans.

  • “How's Tuesday's video doing?”

Views, watch time, likes, and subscribers gained, answered in seconds.

  • “What's working in the home-espresso niche right now?”

Web research, distilled into a topic shortlist in Town's editor.

  • “Punch up the title on yesterday's video.”

A sharper title and description, live on your channel once you approve.

YouTube integration FAQ

Town's YouTube integration connects your channel to Town with a Google sign-in; no API keys or setup. Under the hood it's two Town-owned connections — YouTube for channel data (videos, playlists, comments) and YouTube Analytics for performance metrics — that show up as one integration. Your Townie reads your channel's data when you ask, and anything public-facing waits for your approval.

Town only reads YouTube data when you (or a routine you configured) ask for it, and access is scoped to the Google account you connect. Anything that touches your public channel — comment replies, title updates, uploads — waits for your approval by default. Read more about how Town approaches security.

Yes, with your approval. Your Townie can reply to and moderate comments, update video titles and descriptions, manage playlists, and upload thumbnails, channel art, and videos. Every one of those actions is held for your approval by default; nothing goes public without you.

Your channel's overview and statistics, video details, playlists, recent activity, video search on your channel, and comment threads. On the analytics side: day-by-day channel reports, per-video metrics — views, watch time, average view duration, likes, comments, shares, subscribers gained and lost — and custom analytics queries. It doesn't read video transcripts or captions.

No paid plan on either side. You need a YouTube channel and the Google account that manages it — analytics covers the channel that account owns. Town is free to start, and the connection works on every Town plan.

YouTube Studio shows you the numbers when you go looking. Town brings them to you and acts on them — the weekly report lands in your inbox, comment replies arrive drafted, and a question about any video gets answered in chat, no dashboard open.

What is YouTube?

YouTube is the world's largest video platform, where creators and brands publish, build an audience, and earn. For anyone running a channel, it's also a second job: analytics to check, comments to answer, uploads to promote.

YouTube holds the audience; Town handles the workload around it. Connected, your channel's numbers arrive as reports, comments come with replies drafted, and every upload kicks off the promotion work — with you approving anything public.
