WhatsApp integration FAQ
Town's WhatsApp integration links your phone number to your Townie so you can message it on WhatsApp like any other contact — text, voice notes, and photos. It's the same assistant you have in the Town app, with the same memory and tools: it can search your email, check your calendar, draft replies, and run tasks, and it answers right in the chat. You connect by verifying your number; no API keys, nothing to install.
No. Town can't read or search your WhatsApp chats — it only sees the messages you send directly to your Townie, a limit set by WhatsApp itself. And anything your Townie drafts from those messages, like emails or calendar invites, waits for your approval before anyone else sees it. Read more about how Town approaches security.
No — you start the conversation. For messaging-platform reasons, your Townie replies within a window after your last message, so if it's been a while, just send a new message to pick the thread back up. Your scheduled routines still run either way; ask for the results in the chat, or read them in the app or your inbox.
Text, voice notes, and photos. Voice notes are transcribed and acted on, so you can talk instead of type. Photos become context for the request: a flyer can become a drafted calendar invite, a receipt can be logged for your expenses. The thread is personal to you — it isn't a shared or team channel.
No — a regular WhatsApp account and your phone number are all it takes. On the Town side you need an account, free to start, and the WhatsApp connection works on every Town plan.
Same Townie, same memory, same tools — switching surfaces never means re-explaining yourself. WhatsApp is built for on-the-go asks, quick captures, and voice-first requests. The Town app is where the longer work lives: documents, routines, and the full review of everything waiting on your approval. Use whichever is closest at hand.
What is WhatsApp?
WhatsApp is the world's most popular messaging app — where billions of people text, send voice notes, and share photos every day, on the phone already in their pocket.
WhatsApp carries the conversation; Town puts an assistant inside it. Link your number and the chat becomes a doorway to your whole workspace: email searched, calendar checked, drafts and to-dos waiting for your approval when you're back at your desk.
