Telegram integration FAQ
Town's Telegram integration links your Telegram account to your Town assistant through the official Town bot. You generate a six-digit code in Town, send it to the bot, and from then on your Telegram thread is a direct line to your Townie: text, voice messages, and photos in; answers and drafts-for-approval back in the same chat. It works with everything else you've connected, so a message on Telegram can search your email, check your calendar, or update your to-do list.
Town never sees your other Telegram conversations. The bot only receives the messages you send directly to it, in your one-on-one thread. Anything your Townie drafts from those messages — emails, calendar changes — waits for your approval, and you can approve or reject right in the chat. Read more about how Town approaches security.
No. The connection is inbound-only: your Townie can't read or search your other Telegram conversations, and it can't send Telegram messages to anyone but you, in the thread you started. Group chats aren't supported; it's a personal one-on-one line to your assistant.
Yes. Voice messages are transcribed and acted on, so you can talk instead of type. Photos work too: send a flyer and ask for the calendar event, or a receipt for your expense log. Replies come back in the same thread.
No. You need a free Telegram account and a Town account, free to start. The Telegram connection works on every Town plan.
Yes, it's the same assistant. Your memory, connected tools, and routines all carry over, so you never re-explain yourself when you switch to Telegram. You open the thread by messaging the bot first, and you can send /new in the chat to start fresh when you change topics.
What is Telegram?
Telegram is one of the world's most popular messaging apps: fast, cloud-based chats that sync across every device, with voice messages, photo sharing, and bots that live right in your chat list.
Telegram carries the message; Town does the work. Connected, the thought you send from the sidewalk becomes a drafted email, a calendar event, or a to-do before you're back at your desk.
