See it work: a routine that runs your weekly sync doc
Get the sync table filled in before Monday
Runs every Friday. You approve every nudge.
Open Integrations in Town
Go to Integrations in your Town workspace (free to create) and find Coda.
Paste your Coda API token
Create a token in Coda under Account settings → API, and paste it into Town's token field. Town connects through Coda's official MCP server (coda.io/apis/mcp), so there's nothing to install.
Put the team doc to work
Done — your Townie can read any table, keep trackers and agendas current for your approval, and answer questions straight from the rows.
Routines that use Coda
Ready-made routines from the Town library, built on Coda. Install one and tailor it to how you work.
Just ask your Townie
The weekly sync, the OKR tracker, the project hub — one doc runs them all. Town keeps it filled in.
“What's still blocked for the launch?”
Read from the tracker's rows and answered with the owners, wherever you ask.
“Put pricing follow-up on Monday's agenda.”
A new row in the sync table, held for your approval.
“What's sprint velocity this quarter?”
Read from the formulas your table already computes and answered in plain English.
Coda integration FAQ
The Coda MCP is Coda's hosted Model Context Protocol server at coda.io/apis/mcp — the official integration surface Coda maintains. MCP is the open standard that lets AI assistants securely work with data from apps — in this case your docs, tables, rows, and formulas. Town connects with a Coda API token; nothing to install.
Town only reads Coda when you (or a routine you configured) ask for it, and your API token is stored encrypted. Row changes wait for your approval. Read more about how Town approaches security.
By default, no — new rows and row updates are drafted and held for your approval before they land. And Town's Coda tools write rows, not page text, so the words your team wrote stay exactly as they wrote them.
The docs your API token can reach — you create the token in Coda's account settings and can revoke it there anytime. Under the hood these are Coda's MCP tools: search docs and tables, inspect doc and table schemas, read rows and formulas, and create and update rows.
You need a Coda account that can create an API token, and a Town account — free to start. The Coda connection works on every Town plan.
Coda AI works inside the doc. Town works across your tools — email, calendar, meetings, and Coda together — so what happens in your meetings lands in the tables, and what the tables say shows up where you work. The doc stays the team's source of truth; Town does the upkeep around it.
What is Coda?
Coda is the doc that runs like an app — pages and live tables in one place, where teams build the trackers, hubs, and rituals they run on, from the weekly sync doc to the OKR tracker.
The doc is where the team's week runs; Town does the upkeep. Connected, meetings become rows drafted for your approval, tables get filled in before the sync, and every tracker answers questions in plain English.
